MB 1221 2020 Chevy Corvette

The latest Matchbox Corvette casting to date is this 2020 Coupe version. It starts off the C8 generation of rear engine production based Corvette offerings from Matchbox.

Debuting in 2020 as Toy # GKK41 in USA distributions and GKM53 in the ROW. It was overlooked for inclusion in that years Power Grabs boxed offerings. It was #47 in the 1-100 Series: MBX Highway Segment. Known base plate codes are N34, 35, N36 and N37. Production is from Thailand.

A 3D prototype version of the Corvette C8 was unveiled at the 2019 Matchbox Convention. It varied greatly from the final production model as the design proportions had not been finalized. It was printed in a cameo pattern like that which was used when it was being tested by Chevrolet. Orignally, the rear wheel was going to be bigger than the front wheels - before it was changed to be the same size. (Yay! A great decision Matchbox!) It also did not have side mirrors yet. Which were added for production release.

In 2021, a red body colored edition with darker grey base, interior and windows was distributed as Toy # GVX50 in the USA; GXM58 for the ROW and GXN57 in the boxed Power Grabs offerings. Know base plate codes to date are P07, P08, P09, and P10. It was issued as #40 in the 1-100 Metal Series and in the MBX Showroom Segment. The license plate detail was changed to Stingray for this 2nd edition.
