I've been an Iwata guy ever since I outgrew my Paasche H. I love the Iwata's. I get great, consistent results with them, they're very high quality in parts and are easy to maintain.

Recently on something of I whim I tried the Grex 'trigger pull' airbrush. While I'd have a hard time explaining it I do tend to believe the parts quality on the Iwata is a bit higher. Maybe.

But there are lots of things I really like about the Grex. The 'trigger' mechanism is wonderful. So easy to use. I love it to death. I like the Grex comes with three size color cups. And I like that they are removeable - makes it much easier to clean. I like the magnetic cap system - a regular cap and a crown cap and you can switch them in a second.

The Grex also has an optional 'fan sprayer' that lets you spray over a larger surface area. I have one of those, haven't tried it yet (waiting for a big kit).

So the Grex is really easy to use (love the trigger), gets great results, and is easier to clean.

I don't have a local Grex dealer but I do a lot of business with Merri Artist and recommend them highly in case you want to try one:

The TRN 1 looks nice - I like a gravity feed brush with a .35mm needle.

I've always heard the Neo line is not made by Iwata - they have it made for them and put their name on it. I wonder if that's true?

It's true the Neo's are not made by Iwata, but for Iwata (even says so on the packaging). Although they are designed as entry-level airbrushes for people new to the hobby, they still have to conform to the manufacturing tolerances established by Iwata and have a FIVE year warranty against manufacturing defects.

I'm still using and enjoying the Grex brush. I have found one thing I really prefer about the Iwata's over the Grex - the Iwata's have a fixed color cup where the Grex three different sized removable color cups.

Now some people may like the choice of different sizes, but being replaceable means every time you clean your brush you have to remove the color cup and clean the threads on the cup and the airbrush body. Yup, it's two more things to clean. Quicker (for me) with the built-in cups on the Iwata's. I guess my Eclipse HP-BS is still the all-time champ.
