I will be traveling out east this coming week and have to drive from New Castle De up to Hartford CT in the middle of the week. Wanting to avoid NY City traffic I'm skirting the metro area and driving slightly west. Any good hobby shops in that area? I'm stopping at Next Generation Hobbies which is only about 5 miles off the NY Thruway. Anthony emailed me back with the store hours and it looks like a well stocked store (he actually has Sci Fi kits). Any others I shouldn't miss?

By all means make it a point to see Anthony at Next Generation Hobbies. It's a small store but he carries a lot of kits and supplies. It reminds one of what hobby shops used to be back in the day. If you can only make it to one shop, this is it.

I lived in CT for several years my favorite Hobbystore was The Time Machine. It has a large inventory and covers quite a bit of subjects.

In Middletown Ct south of Hartford there is Amatos the Middletown store is smaller than The Time Machine but still is a decent store, they also have another store in New Britain that is bigger also with a good size inventory.

Have a good one!

I was able to swing by Next Generation Hobbies in NY and I have to say, I was impressed! It's a small store but it's stocked to the ceilings with all kinds of model goodness. Anthony was very friendly and it was clear he loves the hobby. I stayed and chatted a little under an hour and had to be on my way but I'm glad I stopped in and checked it out. He sells on Ebay as well and ships nationwide. I will be doing business with him in the future that's for sure. I only had room in the carry on for one small kit. I had a difficult time making up my mind what I wanted the most and what would actually fit in my bag. Next time I'm out east, I'll be bringing a second suitcase just for kits! His inventory is very up to date with all the latest releases from Polar Lights, Pegasus, Mobius, Monarch, and lots of Gundam kits. He also has a lot of nice vintage NOS kits mixed in for fun. His store is located in a beautiful artist's village with lots of shops and small arts and crafts stores so it would be the perfect Saturday getaway for you and the lady in you life. I wish we still had hobby shops like this in South Bend IN.
