This question came up again today so I gathered up as many of the previous threads on the topic I could find.

The common factor is the material mixture used to make the blisters back then. It doesn't matter what you did or how they were stored - the blister is going to yellow on its own.

Direct sunshine and heat will accelerate the process. And it probably started on the cargo ship en-route to their destination.
