The Paddy Wagon was first releseased in 1970 during the Spectraflame Era and in 1973, but in dark blue enamel paint each time. The casting is based on the Monogram model kit design of Tom Daniel. For this years series it thankfully does not have any addiitonal tampos! Thre is no window pice and the bare metal chassis remains unpainted. The only change made from the 1973 version is the use of Type 2 Redline 'through hole' wheel sets with large ones at the rear and mediums up front.

The reference image for this blister carded casting is in The Elite Redline Guide (2010) as a dark blue casting with the 1975 white card version using red Hot Wheels letters and larger blue Flying Colors letters. Images of the Baja Bruiser, Heavy Chevy & P-917 castings growing progressively larger in siae are shown on the card front.

Subsequent releases followed in 1976 and 1977 under the Flying Colors line.

In 1976, the base was changed to be a black plastic piece

In 1977, wheel sets were changed to be the black walled chrome Basic Wheel sets all around.

In 1979, it was also available in the Classy Customs line up as #6966 still.

The On Line Red Line Guide also references The Paddy Wagon as one of the known castings produced in Mexico by CIPSA in 1983. It was produced in dark blue with a light blue top. Most of these came with black wall through hole styled wheel sets described as odd looking incomparision to a Hot Wheels casting. But, its own CIPSA pages do not include this casting.

It was also released in France in beige and brown with a beige top and dark blue with a light blue top. These versions all came with a black plastic base.

In 1993, a retooled version was part of the 25th Anniversary Series.

In 1994, it was released in the FAO Schwarz Gold Series Collection.

In 2009, it was re-released again as part of the Classics Series and renamed the Copper Stopper.

In 2010, it was part of the Clover Cars Series as the Copper Stopper.

In 2012, it was a part of the Boulevard Series Show Rods line as the Copper Stopper. And

In 2015, as part of the Heritage Series Redline again under the Copper Stopper casting name.

I really question whether we know if this is a '73 or '74 casting. Loose cars are called out based only on the lack of rear cap wheels. There are no other visible differences between the two. But we already know that some "74's" had rear caps so we'd really have to look at examples in BP to decide if we should that call or not.
