Here is a step by step on making a master for making models.
But what is it ?
I would like to see if you all can figure it out.
The master needs to be 9" H by 8" w so here we go.

I start with a 6" PVC tub, then I cut it to 1 3/4" H.

Now I cut the rings out of 1/8" plastic, I need 6 for the PVC tub.

For the top part, I needed to make the shape that it needs to be.
So I cut a 4" w discs then a 6 1/2" discs with a 1/4 hole in the center.
Then I put a 1/4" rod in both center holes, now I can adjust it to the
right H.
Then I rib it with 3 1/2" L by 1" thick wood square rod.
OK, now bondo the shape and then sand it.

Now time to vac-u-form-it, the piece needed to be hollow.

Making more rings, 11 of them.
Test fit all the pieces to see what I need to do next.

The engines of a Saturn V rocket?
If that part is 9" tall, it'd be one heckuva big Saturn!

A "telepod" from Cronenberg's The Fly?

LOL :jest:

Thanks for the comic relief guys, I needed that !
But I am impressed that PhilipMarlowe got it so fast.
Yes it is the telepod from the FLY, in scale with the McFarlane figure.
More to come.

Only because I just recently watched the 2-disc Special Edition recently. I don't know if it helps or not, but in the extras on the DVD they reveal the telepod design was a copy of the top of the two-stroke engine on Cronenberg's Ducati Motorcycle, greatly enlarged and turned upside down of course!

At that size, it'd be easy to add some "teleportation" lighting effects. May be one of those small battery operated 'plasma disc" for the floor....

Make sure to let us know if this is going to be a kit, John. I'm cleaning parts up on your Matrix Hovercraft as we speak, sweet kit

Yeah I saw that to, go figure!
I am making it a kit and the computer console with it to.
Good point on the lighting effect, need to look in to it.

I LOVE the design for the telepods featured in The Fly, and I think it's a great idea for a custom-build. Can't wait to see how the project takes shape (as it were).

Please keep us posted.
