Some of you may have read my earlier thread where my old Solo 445 blower is now RIP. Really a shame, it was a good machine.

Anyway, I just used the machine about 2 weeks ago. Started on the second pull, just like always, and ran fine. No noticable loss of power. This past weekend, I brought it out of the shed to blow some leaves, and it won't start no matter how many times I pull the cord. Diagnosis shows only 75 psi compression.

What could have caused the compression to go like that? Stuck ring wasn't sealing?

It's very possible that your piston ring may be stuck. Carbon can build up in the ring land on the piston and cause the ring to bind. Might try spraying some sea foam deep creep in through the plug hole and letting it soak a few days. If that is the problem, then it may loosen up and start working again.

Until you pull the muffler and look at the piston/cylinder to see what the problem may be, it is hard to tell. Might be a stick ring, could be scored piston/cylinder or extra wear from dust ingestion.
