USS Reliant...Lit and Finished...Thanks Arthur!!!

I've just finished with this build of a 1:537 USS Reliant.
I used the correction kit, JT Graphics Decals and the mighty Arthur Pendragon's decal set for this model...as well as some led's, fibre optics, paint and sticky stuff. All mounted on a neat little black box with a power socket and switch at the rear.

Pics are from my Photobucket account as i forgot to lower the rez to allow attaching the pics to this post....

Hope you like it!
Rich

Awesome buildup! Absolutely beautiful! And you got the phasers added to the underside of the impulse deck, too! LOTS of folks miss that little detail on the studio model. Excellent!

My only criticism is the aztecing is too dark, not subtle enough. Is that possibly more an artifact of the lighting in some of those pics, perhaps? Regardless, that's still a fantastic job you did overall.

Beautimous!

I know what you mean about the aztecing looking a little too stark Griff, but it does look a LITTLE more subtle in real life.....not much though!
I kind of wanted to make it look a bit more workhorse like, more boiler-plate-ish, as opposed to the Enterprise's elegance and sweet subtleties.

Excellent work!

If you ever want to tone down the contrast and lighten it up, just use an airbrush and give it a light dusting with white that has just a drop of light blue in it.

Thanks all!
I kinda liked the contrast on the decals....i originally started out with the aztec pattern much more subtle....but i didn't like it.....i could maybe have turned the contrast down at least a notch...i agree....but, well....i kinda like it!

Very nice Lizzybus! I like how you made it weathered like, I was thinking about going that approach but decide on the more subtle look. I'm liking this look though . You used fiber optics? I bet that took awhile to get it just right...lot of time I bet. Again great job :).
Update: forgot to give you props on the lighting :)..nice and clean.

Fantastic! I like the way it is. You made a model that is uniquely yours, and really stands out. The weathering brings real character to the ship. I feel honored to see such an awesome build.

Wow. Very nice. I like that fine detailed aztec! In the first pic it almost has a silvery quality. I also love that you can get the camera so close and it still looks awesome.
Again, beautiful work!

Thanks people!

One thing i've discovered......pinstripe decals are a real pain in the bum....i found i had to use more acrylic clear spray on the decal sheets to strengthen them. The decals had a tendancy to just disintegrate...

I'm planning to start working on mine soon... well, re-working it. I built it about ten years ago. As of now its (mostly) unpainted but that will change pretty soon
oh BTW great work, I hope mine looks at least half as good when I'm finished

Outstanding work there Rich.
She certainly looks the part and if your happy with it then sorted all round i'd say !
Nicely done on the lighting too

Two Reliants on the boards in less than a week...could be the start of a new trend :D

Go easy.

Thanks Ray and Prince!

The aztecing was made available as detailed decals from Arthur Pendragon. I've never "wallpapered" a ship before...it's got it's +'s and -'s....
I believe they are on the SSM site.

man I had the same issues with those, really pain in the butt line them up. I think its fair to say it takes an hour or two just lineing them up. They disintegrated..hmm was the water really hot or more on the luke warm side? If you get it to hot it will do that to you. Again great job on the build man, one of the best of seen!
