I finally completed two of my winter projects. First up is my USS Reliant build. I used DLM nacelle parts, Trek Modeller lighting board, Paragrafix Easy LED strips and a custom plaque from Laserfire Creations. I bought the Reliant decal set from Round 2 and was very happy with the results. I wouldn't have been able to achieve a decent aztecing job and the decal look great after using appropriate decal setting solutions on them. Here are some pics:

And a video:

The second project was a Viper Combat patrol diorama described in a following post.

wayvryder, I'm curious, how difficult was it to cut out and install DMLs clear blue nacelle parts? Did you have to putty around the cut out much? Seems this would be hard to cut the exatct shape of the replacement part!

Looks really good and looks really good on that base too.

Hal9001,

It wasn't hard at all to make the cutout for the nacelle parts. Just took some time and patience. DLM includes an instruction sheet with great tips on how to make the cutout. The technique I used was to put a very small drill bit (1mm diameter) and drilled out LOTS of holes along the outline of where I needed to cut. I then took a hobby knife and cut through the very small connecting pieces between the holes. Once the unwanted piece was knocked out I then filed the edges smooth and kept sanding until the DLM nacelle part fit snugly into the cutout. There was very little puttying required but I had a lot of sanding to do since I was conservative when marking the cutout. Much better to not cut out enough than to cut out too much.

Are you planning on a Reliant build of your own? As I mentioned on the video I (and lots of others) highly recommend DLM replacement parts.
