So, the Wonder Festival Summer show kind of snuck up when I wasn’t looking, and honestly, there’s not too much to report. They debuted the Alice prototype from the NIKKE initiative, and also a classic Ultraman that we knew was coming. There’s also now boxart from several upcoming releases. But nothing on any new Harryhausen or Jurassic kits…one wonders if they’re done there. If so it’s a real tragedy for figure kit enthusiasts. The real action, as usual, comes from the X-Plus/Star Ace vinyl/. resin line…

Ha
Does anyone know if X-Plus is planning another run for the Mummy kit?
Haven’t heard anything but it wouldn’t surprise me, they’re currently doing quite a few reissues with new packaging. The Rhedosaur and Metropolis Maria are being reissued soon with new packaging. The Wolfman is late 2025/Early 2026, and it wouldn’t shock me to see some of earlier Universal Monsters release alongside him.

New shots of The Wolfman, now scheduled for release late 2025/early 2026. CultTVMan has listed it at $94, so yes, tariffs have unfortunately made their mark…

Guess I won’t buying many X-Plus kits in the future. Once you factor tax and shipping this kit is way over $100. That’s too much for a mass produced styrene kit. Bummer since these are really nice kits.

I do wonder, with the advent of the X-Plus NIKKE kits, whether we’re seeing a lessening emphasis on western subjects such as the Universal Monsters, and more of a concentration on Japanese domestic subjects. It would make a certain amount of sense considering the wild ride Japanese manufacturers have had to endure because of the Trump tariffs…
