I finally found one on ebay. It's a resin kit and full sized.

This is the larger season 1 pistol. I have never seen a kit of the smaller season 2 pistol.

From photo's it looks accurate. I have no idea of the history of the kit.

It's simple, 3 resin parts and a decal for the sighting screen.

The main body is HEAVY! It's a solid chunk of resin.

After starting to clean it up pin holes show up. As with any garage resin kit surface prep will be a big part of the build.

One of the shows vaporizer's is on display in the Science Fiction Museum in Seattle.

The overall color looks to be medium to dark grey, a monotone paint.

That brings back memories!

Very nice looking kit!

I noticed the handle of the gun in the museum had a lot more skupting in it- are you planning on modifying the kit handle to match?

Thanks.

A bit of progress. Surface prep continues.

I used bakingsoda and thin CA on most of the pin holes. Some would not fill well so I reverted to thin putty. Still working it but the really bad spots, the bottom of the handle and the back of the body are done.

I brushed on some Tamiya surface primer and it looks like those areas are done.

Still working the viewer and the front of the handle.

I'm not sure if I want to grind too much into the handle for 2 reasons.

1 The body is HEAVY and I don't want to weaken the handle

2 I'm kind of afraid to see what voids would show up. On this kit, like most that were just poured, below the thin surface coat lies
an unknown.

We will see how much it bothers me as the build progresses.

In the photo above you can see 4 small dimples on the emitter. I don't know how that go this far!

I filled them.

There was also a big seam around the handle, Some Perfect Putty fixed that.

I put, what I hope will be the last 2 coats of paint on.

It automotive GM dark metallic grey. It looks good to me. Maybe a shade too dark.

I have some pearl clearcoat, semi matt clear, and matt. I might hit it with one of those after I see it dry.

Disaster struck last week and It was my fault.

I needed to spray the bottom to fix the handle join and the emitter spots. I used some tape to mount the gun to a section on wood for touch up paint. The touch up went well but when I removed the tape it pulled up a large section of paint.

I tried to sand, but the paint had a rubbery consistency. I let it cure for a week and tried to sand again today but the paint was flacking off.

Out came the perfect putty.

It's drying now.

I'm going to call this done.

It's not perfect, but it's done!

I posed the Vaporizer gun with 3 death disks I made years ago.

They are on display waiting for me to build the Saucer.

I think you did a great job on this! Nice to see an unusual prop build.

I am watching "The Invaders" on METv. Always wondered about it. Extremely well written!

Thanks Fozzie!

I'm glad you like it. It is very well done.

I was once involved in an online discussion about how "The Invaders" could be a prequel to the British show "UFO"

It actually kind of works.

Interesting idea. Yeah, I can see how that could work...

If anyone is interested I just bought the season 2 vaporizer from Century Castings. A UK company. I have his Space 1999 stungun and comlock. Both very nice so I'm happy he is offering the small vaporizer. I'll post photo's when it comes.

I now have the complete "The Invaders" set. The 2 guns, 3 death disks, and the Atlantis saucer. I guess I could try and make a regeneration tube, but where would I put it?
