In mid 2011, Mattel brought The Hot Ones series name out of retirement and renewed them again for 2012.

Only not all of the castings released used a version of the HO wheel sets. Many were fitted with 5sps, BW, UH and some had 'The Hot Ones' lettered on them. These were also updated from the previously named wheels sets for the most part as well.

In 2011, there where 50 castings released in the carded series. Card art freatured a purple Spolier Sport and a green El Rey Special. Castings included 12 chase versions with either white or red lettered "The Hot Ones" wheel sets. Two 6 car sets were also issued as the 2011 Hot Ones Weekend Machines Set and the Classic Machine Set. The Sunagon and Combat Medic from the Weekend Machines Set were the same as the carded issue. The Fat Fender '40s and 1934 3 Window Ford Coupe were also the same as the carded versions. Each of the other 8 castings were exclusive to their respective 6 Pack box set.

In 2012, another 4? castings were again released in the carded series. The card art now featured a red Dumpin' A and white GT Racer images. All castings were made in Thailand.

All of my accumulated later issued The Hot Ones castings are from the 2012 issues. First up was the 2012 CRX.
