I have a generator with a Tecumseh hm100 flathead engine. The exhaust valve leaks causes the muffler to get too hot. I'm trying to do adjust the valve clearance, right now its at 0. I was wondering if this engine has a compression release? And what is the valve lash specs?

Yes, it has a compression release. Valve lash should be set with piston at TDC on compression stroke
You'll have to remove the cylinder head to perform valve service.
HM100 lash is 0.008" int., 0.012" ex.
