Race number 5 of the BSR Brushless Oval Tour took place this past weekend at Summit Raceway in Fort Wayne Indiana. The Lefthander R/C - Voo Doo Cells Summit Showdown would see a large field of 84 drivers on hand to do battle on the 140' Summit bull ring.

Sportsman 13.5

The 13.5 Sportsman class continues to grow with a season high of 40 entries. The ultra competitive class would also see it’s fifth different winner of the year with Fort Jennings, OH driver Charlie Flanagan grabbing his first victory. (TQ) Kevin Klyber would take a season best second place finish and Jason Crist from Ingalls, IN would end up third after bumping form the B. Jason’s third place finish was good enough to help him regain the tour points lead. Summit regular AJ Hoaglin was fourth followed by Dave Hoaglin in fifth.

PRO 4300

The Pro 4300 class would see a repeat of the race 4 finishing order with (TQ) Frank Ulbrik in his Pro-Built/Hyperdrive Pro 3 taking his second BRL win in the month of January. Frank held off a late race charge by Frederick Maryland driver Jamie Hanson and Iowa’s Danny Bartholomew who would finish third. Dave Zipp bumped from the D main converting his Lucky Dog transfer spot into a solid 4th place finish, he was followed by Indy racer Jon Landers in fifth.

PRO Modified

Pro Modified would see BRL series director and former Hoosier Sonny Brown notch his first win of the year over point leader Danny Bartholomew. Long haul award winner Randy Ryder from Lincoln, Nebraska would finish third followed by Jason Hack in fourth and (TQ) Eli Ezrow who departed the race early singing the classic “You Picked A Fine Time to Leave Me Loose Wheel”.

The series takes a break during the month of February before returning to action at the beginning of March. The R/C version of a traveling circus moves on to it’s largest track at the Hobbytown Hobbyplex in Omaha, NE fro the Custom Works Spring Sizzler on March 3rd & 4th. A steller field of driver is expected at arguably the best Indoor R/C facility in the Country.

Congrats to everyone that showed up to help make this event a success. I know many of the main winners were pushed to their limits to pull out the wins in most classes and it made for great racing action for the rest of us to watch. Sonny, Frank, and C3 beat out the best talent this raceway had ever seen in one weekend. Also everyone seemed to make enjoying the weekend here the main priority and as a track owner I felt very fortunate to have this event. Thanks again guys. Here are the results in more detail from our website. http://hometown.aol.com/sheath9831/raceway012807.html

Thanks for all the hard work Dale.

Time to let Boylan and Thunder Crew do all the work and go relax in Florida.

See you down there.
