In 1998, Strottman International Inc was based in Irvine California. They entered into a licensed agreement with Mattel to re-tool some Matchbox castings to be a part of a Taco Bell promotional give away set. The retooling consisted primarily to fit an opaque window piece into each of the castings. The bases were also modified to include the "Made in China by SSI" information description. This is also included on the card backs of each casting package.

The second series of castings do appear to have painted over windows as part of the body piece.

The Matchbox Taco Bell Series of casting came out in 2 groups. A 1998 and a 2000 series each contained 4 castings. A 3rd series is also known and was also distributed by Taco Bell, but no date for the promotional giveaway is noted. Each of these 4 castings are classified as 'fantasy' models and called "Racin' Rockets".

1998 Taco Bell Promotional Series - '62 Chevy Corvette, Formula Firebird, Humvee and Volkswagen Concept I (black/red/white)

2000 Taco Bell Promotional Series - '57 Chevy Bel Air, '97 Chevrolet Corvette, '97 Chevy Pickup and Chevy Tahoe (blue/green/white)

Taco Bell Promotional Series "Racing Rockets" - 'Tuner Car' (grey), '?' (red/yellow); '?' (green) and '?' (?)

Today Strottman International Inc is still around and is noted to be a leader in the promotional toy industry. They are now located in Irvine, California and have additional offices in Atlanta, Georgia, (Tennessee), Hong Kong and Shenzhen
