All the racers that would want to race at the track in Cedar Rapids Iowa, would you become QSAC members to race at the track. I am looking at making the track a QSAC track which would mean you would have to be QSAC members to race. I believe this would make the track so it would not be in the Cornbelt, Rick would have to chime in on that.

Please let me know, you can post here or you can send me a private message or heck you can even email me.

Niels,

I have no issues with that as I realize it will be the lowest cost way to get insurance. I think most of the racers will be or are already QSAC members especially this year with the QSAC NCS race in Algona in June.

Just wanted to update everyone, I received the proof of insurance last night so I will work at getting some dates for SS, as long as I can get all the ducks lined up. Looks like the first couple of races will be on Sundays since the electric club races on Saturdays, then after labor day they are done so I can have the saturdays. So if you want to race at SS, make sure you are a QSAC member.

thanks

I think most of the ones that are running the corn belt have a license so that is no problem. I think Algona may have to require a license in order to give the city more insurance for next year. There is still a date open in August that was set aside for CR cornbelt.

Would you guys please stop testing my limits. Each track you get me interested in is further and further away. Algona, then Ft. Dodge, now Cedar Rapids... Looks like a cool place from the pics on the QSAC site.

That is what 1/4 scale guys do, Last Friday night I drove 7 1/2 hours just to watch the mains at Algona, hung out for an hour after the race and drove home 7 1/2 hours. I would have raced but my driver wasn't able to get off work. I went to show my support of my home track guys...

Alright I believe I am far enough I can give out some dates for Storm Steel.

I am looking at Aug 5th and 19th, Sept. 16, and Oct. 13.

Cornbelt races will be Aug. 19th and Oct. 13th.

On Aug 5th and Sept 16th I want to do something differant........feature inverts, so I am putting this out there in case you are really against it. For the features I will have a dice and the TQ will roll the dice and that will determine how many cars we invert in the feature. Depending on how many cars we have we may even do a resort for the heats so you get to race other people. Should be fun and thats what these races are all about. Get out those hovearounds! :)

I am thinking racing will start at 1:00pm, I will be there at about 9 or so. Racing will cost $10 for Aug 5th and Sept. 16, the cornbelts are $15 just like usual. You must have a personal transponder, I will not have any transponders and you will have to be a QSAC member to race.

I was at the track on Saturday morning, man was it HOT! the electric club has resealed the track so I am not sure what to expect when we get on, they were getting ready for a race and guys were showing up already at 10am, the racing was not to start until 4, I thought some of the 1/4 scale guys I knew were crazy.

I got the dates on my schedule! The only challenge I have is the August 19th date. I may be at the NCS race at MPR. How many others may be going? Just food for thought.

I like the inverted idea and the resorted heats. We did that all the time in 1/8th scale off road. Made it very fun. I vote yes!

And yes, we are crazy!

Hey Reno,

I thought about that but I am hoping to get some people on the way home since its sunday, You for example can stay at MPR one more night and stop here or come here and spend the night, unless you tear up your car. I have seen MPR be kinda rough on cars and it really like sprints. :) and I have heard its going a real tast for preditors!

Just a thought.....what exactly does getting insurance and QSAC have to do with each other? $1,000,000 in liability coverage will cost roughly $225 a year for an RC track (I know this x 2). Secondly, any insurance that QSAC provides is going to be paid in EXCESS of any liability coverage the track has in addition to whatever homeowners' coverage the at fault party has. What most people don't understand is that your homeowners' insurance is your traveling personal liability. If I go and hit somebody in the head with a golf ball, my homeowners' policy is going to pay out along with the course's insurance, most likely. If I run over Dave Bradford with my sprint car, my homeowners' policy may very well be on the hook. Trust me when I say I am not trying to start an argument, but I have always wondered what the big deal between QSAC and insurance is when it comes to 1/4 scale racing. I understand the need to be sanctioned for events, but from an insurance stand point, I don't see what the "advantage" is. It would be a different story if QSAC was picking up ALL the liability exposure that QSAC sanctioned tracks and members, but unfortunately that isn't the case. How much does it cost to get insurance through QSAC? Please feel free to chime in with your thoughts if I am missing the boat here.
