My father gave me this since it is too heavy for him to handle anymore. It has the 4-mix engine. The unit starts and runs fine but I noticed one thing that I'm not sure is normal for this engine or not. The thing has a ring-a-ling-ting sound on occasion. It seems to only happen upon acceleration/deceleration, or when I pull to the starter rope before the engine fires. Is this normal for this engine or is there something that is causing this sound that I should check out before I have a major problem?

Thanks for the help.

That is pretty much normal for any type of unit with a centrifugal clutch. When the clutch gets a little wear, it will at times bump the clutch drum and cause a ding similar to ringing a bell.
