Here's a group of all of the colors of the '55 Bel Air that I've managed to find so far. Looking forward to seeing Malibu International release '57s & '58s someday.

Wow! Thanks for the pic. I had no idea I was missing so many
Thanks for the positive replies. The earliest one is the green/cream, which is the more expensive Model Power version from Hobby Lobby (green box).

The two-tones with the white tops & trunks are from last year, but some might still be around at some WMs, in singles and older 5-packs.

The solid body colors with the white tops are from the latest 5-car packs.

The most recent are the red/blue top (in a single pack) and the red/black top (in the package towing the little camper trailer).

Which ones are you missing, FloydFrog?
Just like with the Cobras you posted, I've only seen two of those. I had no idea they were offered in so many colors.

I haven't picked up any of the 5-packs yet. Every one I see only has 1 or 2 cars that I would like for my collection :( Probably the only ones I'm missing are from these sets.
Nice pix...would you mind if I used it for computer wallpaper? You are missing only one 55 Chevy. There is also a gold and white one (top) that pulls a camping trailer. I do believe it was released right before the red one with blue top. I just secured two of the ones you have from 5 packs from a fellow at the MCCH board but I don't have the early green and creme one. How would I enter a search for it on our favorite auction service? :)

Sure - feel free to use it as wallpaper. Thanks for the heads up on the gold/white '55 - I'll be looking for it.

The green/cream '55 that I have comes in a green box marked with the name "Model Power Minis".

The base of the car is marked "High Speed" instead of Malibu, but "High Speed" doesn't appear on the box. They were $3.99 at Hobby Lobby in 2004, before the Malibu Int'l versions appeared at WM.

I haven't been to a HL since they stopped carrying JLs, so I don't know if they still sell Model Power Minis 1/87s there.

Other than that I think they're the same as the Malibu International versions; they all seem to be tied in to Schuco in Germany.

So you might find one under "Schuco 1/87", too. Good Luck on the auctions.

Schuco has a website, too. It's www.schuco.de

Here's the 1/87 page to see what they're up to:

Model Powers still avilable at HL...Ive gotten some VW's there. Nice set of 55's!!!
I got the red and white Bel Air in a deal from a mail order model rail road seller. It is in a green Model Power box, also got the 69 Camaro in green box, its painted green, a yellow 02 Firebird green box, and two black boxed Model Power cars a black 56 Ford F-100, and a black 63 T-Bird. I also picked up a Mini Cooper in 1/87 at HL before X-Mas, it is Model Power yellow with a black top and was in the green box.
I didn't find any die cast in the Rock Hill Hobby Lobby, but it's only about 2 weeks old.

That's a tough question to answer, 'cause I like them all, but I think I'd choose the yellow/white two-tone in the front. The color combo looks really 1950s to me. I like the black/white one second best. Thanks for asking!

I'm really looking forward to finding the Ford truck, the T-bird, and the Mini Cooper. Thanks for your post.
Once they get going good they should be in the model rail road stuff, but they might wate untill X-Mas before getting them in. The HL nere me(if 50 miles counts as nere) dose not have as many right now as they did before X-Mas. Try and find their marked down rack in about six months, they need time to mark stuff down, I got to real nice looking big rig in 1/87 scale for about $5.
Good luck looking.
