Started in 1974 as a maker of belt buckles, Specast was located in Rockford, Illinois.

In 1986, they were sold to Dave Bell who moved the company to Dyersville, Iowa where they began producing small scale pewter farm tractors.

In the early 2000s, they began making different State Police and Highway Patrol versions of a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. Each casting has opening hoods and accurately represented paint and markings for each police squadron.
