The South-West Tour Series completed our 12th season last night under the lights at Papa Lou's A MAIN RACEWAY in Bakersfield CA.

For the 1st time in those 12 years, our finale took place in October instead of November, as we only held 8 event dates vs. our normal 10. We still scored 10 races however, with the inclusion of TWO "On-Road" races in combination with our Asphalt Oval events at the Ventura Roadrunners track in Camarillo CA.

The "Travelling" group was a lot smaller this year, as many racers have found the desire to concentrate on only running on the Carpet track vs. experiencing the "MULTI-TRACK" experience of the SWT series.

Our Core "SPORTSMAN MODIFIED" group however stayed pretty strong all year,as did the "SPORTSMAN TRUCK" group, and love the challenge of different facilities, and THAT is what/why the SWT Series does what it does.

Our 2012 Tracks

Papa Lou's A MAIN RACEWAY - Bakersfield CA
- High Banked Concrete Tri-Oval

David Mayhew's FINISHLINE RACEWAY - Bakersfield CA
- Permanent Carpet Oval (Great Snowbird type track - probably BETTER!)

Sean Park's TQ R/C RACING - Chino CA
- Permanent Carpet Track - mostly On-Road, Oval Layout for SWT Races

Freedom Park R/C Raceway, Camarillo CA
- One of California's OLDEST r/c facilities, great On-Road facility. Oval Layout for SWT Races.

The 2012 SWTour Champions are:

SCOT PETITCLERC (Team Stryker) - Sportsman Modified
- This was Scot's 6th SWT Championship, in a multi-variety of classes over the past decade.

JOHN MILES - Sportsman Truck
- This was John's 1st Championship after several 2nd place finished the past few years

This was the first year in the last 6 seasons that the SWT Series went unsponsored with a major sponsor. This made for a very tight year, and their wasn't a lot of reward for the Champions, other than the bragging rights - but we were able to survive it, and will move on to 2013 after a couple months to regroup.

A Huge THANK YOU and "Attaboy" to BRYAN MYERS (My Son). Bryan took on the job of SWTour Series "Race Director" in 2012, put some of his ideas into play, made the schedule, ran most of the events, and gave ME the opportunity to work on my cars and race. The highlight of the year for him was to WIN the 2012 KIMBROUGH 400's Sportsman Modified class - winning the A Mains for both days of the event, and setting TQ on the 2nd day of racing.

Thanks again to TOM and TJ Kendall (Tech Crew for the past 12 years) and to ALL the racers who continue to support our races year in and year out. It's been fun - and should be back again next year.

Joe
