Hi Everyone,
I cant contain my excitement as I just WON an original SOUTH BEND TOY COMPANY STAR TREK ELECTRONIC ENTERPRISE toy off EBAY!
I was not sure where to post this message, so I thought I would just drop it here!
I am a big fan of the Original STAR TREK, and have collected many toys and models over the years.
I found out about this particular TOY right here on HOBBY TALK. After reading about it here, I thought I would do an EBAY search, and lo and behold there was ONE!
The ship is all there sans the battery cover and the original display stand. $30 bucks plus shipping! Cant beat that!
I understand that these things can go for BIG money. I got a deal!

Does anyone else have one of these toys that they have had since the Seventies, or have acquired since then?

Just thought I would share!

I had one wayyyyyy back when but was young when I had it and once I got through demolishing it, it got thrown away. Been looking for one ever since. I did find one in a thrift store not too long ago but wasn't into star trek as much as I am now again, so passed it up at the price of 150.00 they were asking for it. Some thrift store.

I have one. I filed down the extra pylon mounts, filled them and cleaned up the secondary hull. I pulled molds off the bridge and B/C deck section, the refinished secondary hull, the bolt cover and the bottom dome for use in scratchbuilds.

I have one, also missing the battery cover. :( It's pretty cool. I like playing around with the configurable attachments for nacelles and hulls.
As to scale, the secondary hull is about the same size as the Ertl's; the saucer and nacelles are smaller. I'd guess the saucer and nacelles are in the 1/550-600 range. The engineering hull seems out of scale.

They're a blast. I've got 1 1/2 (one doesn't have a secondary hull, nor electronics) and took them to WonderFest this last year. Pulled them out during the Unofficial Saturday Night Poll Party and Swap Meet and we had a ball playing around w/the various configurations we could come up with, the five or six of us at the table (forget for sure, my vision was blurry there for a bit.... ;) ). Been hoping to pick up a third to add to next years fun.

Oh, well....

Hi GriffWorks,
You know, I THOUGHT your EBAY ID looked familiar! I knew I had seen it somewhere else.
I am happy that I won the toy, and I am sure you will find another one out there somewhere. Besides, you already have ONE AND A HALF of them! Many people dont even have one! :)

As to the 'scale', well I dont think it has a 'scale' really. Its just a toy that was made for fun!

I think I may try to refinish it somehow. Clean it up, paint it. Make some new decals, and make a new battery cover and custom stand for it.

Yeah, well. You know how it is when you have your heart set on purchasing something. I should have bid higher if it were all that important to me. Of course, I also should have just bid the first time the guy had it on eBay. He relisted it and had started at $30 that time. When I saw it w/a starting bid of $20, I decided I couldn't resist.

Oh, well.... I still want another for WF 2K5.

I have one. No stand or battery cover. The secondary hull appears to have all the windows in the right size and shape, even the shape of the fantail observation area looks right.

Sometimes thought about making covers for those attachment ports and make them look like several extra shuttlebay entryways. Figured the battery compartment could be a huge set of impulse vents...

It would be interesting to fabricate a full saucer, etc and make the Phase Two version of the ship.

Well, now I really can't contain my excitement!
I FINALLY recieved my SOUTH BEND Enterprise Toy today! Yes, it has been OVER a MONTH since I won it off EBAY.
It arrived POORLY packaged, and VERY late as the guy did not send it out to me until a full WEEK after he cashed my MONEY ORDER. Oh well, I GOT IT, I GOT IT!
It is so COOL. The Box is thrashed from being bashed around in the mail, but the TOY itself it in excellent shape! No yellowing, no breakage. It works wonderfullly! This is nostalgia right here, boy!
Just thought I would share with everyone!
Whoo!

One more thing that my Wife and I got a kick out of. On the box of the toy it states that the toy has "THROBBING warp engine sounds", and "PULSING power".
Down boy, or down toy, or maybe Down BOY TOY! Laugh.

Well Tee to the Hee there Griff.
It is a nice shade of polish, I thank you for noticing. My Wife thanks you too!

As for the Wonderfest, I would love to go and 'bash' the "E's" with you, just let's NOT have the sound running on these things. It is DEAFENING! Brings back memories of the early 80's arcade games I used to love!

Nothin but an "E" thang
