Aurther E Harris Pty Ltd was the sole distributor for Dinky Toys in South Africa. In 1962, when The Republic of South Africa was formed and they left the British commonwealth, Harris began importing unassembled and unpainted Dinky casting parts instead of finished diecast. They were then assembled and painted in unique colors not found in England or France at the Crown Mines in Johannesburg it is believed. A total of 23 UK castings are known usually in 3 different colors. A 24th is unconfirmed. And 6 French models were imported from France.
