As for the just a tampo comment, yeah, it is just CG 15 Firebird with a tampo, but I have a good feeling that you can't just pick one up and go somewhere to get it done. Then make up the cards with their font's etc...

Chris
I would say not without risking being sued for trademark infringement, maybe

I guess that's one way to find out their market value.

Not trying to offend anyone, as I am sure I would have appreciated the opportunity to obtain one as an authentic thank you. But, isn't it just the same Classic Gold 15 '73 Firebird with a Thank You stamped on the roof?

So for someone to obtain one that did not participate, without it being much different than the original, in fact, it isn't much more desirable to me than the the original, I don't see why people would pay alot for it.

Just my opinion.
Mike

You lost the whole spirit of Fest didn't you. The run was sooooo small PM could not supply 60 of the same casting without major work and months of pre planning (like the PSR cars) so I went to the boards and Chris stepped up big time. I offered him 10 of the cars back, asked him to wait until after Fest and sell a couple to at least re-coop the cost of his contribution so if any person should be rewarded with a nice offer, it is him because without his help, it would not have happened.

Just a tampo? Well isn't that pretty much how anything is done? A color change here and Fest logo there and keep in mind all event cars that people do for shows is done off over runs. Now I can put a Fest tampo on a car but let's see what happens if someone else does. Do you remember what happend the last time someone tried to use the Fest name? It is carded and numbered and each one comes with a signed "Thank You" card so yes, they are VERY different. I suppose you think a white tire on a car is not different as well but most don't agree with you. Since the car fires no desire in your gut you never have to feel bad about not getting one. It was a way for me to show "Thanks", not to increase the value of one's collection.

I must say your reply hit me wrong this morning.

I think it was a very nice jesture from all parties involved with it. I think they went over very well and will be cherished by those that got one.

A big thank you bakatcha is all I can say!

I have yet to recieve mine, but I sorta thought I would have to wait till Fest was over. Getting anxious.

Mark, I'm not trying to rain on the spirit of the Fest. Maybe I didn't articulate it very well. What I was saying was, to the person who earned one, it should be invaluable. It is a great souvenir to the person that earned it. Of course I would be quite proud to own one, if I had attended and was lucky enough to be deemed worthy of one.

However, my tampo comment was directed more to someone on the secondary market looking to buy one. To me, if you didn't attend and earn one, the car isn't much different than the original, modified post-production, and consequently in my opinion despite the limited run of 60, I don't deem it to be worthy of a huge investment. Others might deem it so, I do not. If I am the only one that feels this way, so be it!

I don't begrudge Chris the opportunity to recoup his investment. That's his prerogative.

Bob,

I am pretty sure Mark said it went out on Thursday, so you should get it soon

I'll make it easy for everyone. The one on ebay is 1 of 10 of these cars I have. I've been siting on these for a few months now.
Yes, I am testing the waters to see what the market will bear on these. I'm willing to trade a couple of them.
So far this is the first one on ebay, and I have already gave one away.

As for the just a tampo comment, yeah, it is just CG 15 Firebird with a tampo, but I have a good feeling that you can't just pick one up and go somewhere to get it done. Then make up the cards with their font's etc...

I was ust curious as to how these went over as Mark and I talked about them for a bit. He knew that I would put one or two on ebay. I think we're all a little curious.
Anyway, anyone who has a problem with it or me, feel free to email me off the board. Thanks
:)
Chris

Hey John, shoot me an email when you get a chance. I'd like to discuss some of your recommendations. I tried to email you last night through the board but it bounced. If you send your phone number, I'll give you a call on my dime. it will be later tonight though.

Ahhh Jon? He donated all the castings to me, paid the freight as well and ASKED nothing in return. I made a general plea to all on the board. Check the records. Chris was the ONLY one to step up. In return since it is his cars, castings and dime, I offered to give back to him 10 cars to give to family and friends. I needed 50 castings quick and this was the only way. He in essence ruined his stash of cars so I could pull this off. He did not sell these prior to Fest when the market was ultra hot to benefit from it nor did he wave a banner of "look at me and how important I am" either.

To get you free tables, free entry, free contests, free kits, free awards etc it all has a balance somewhere Jon. I thought what Chris did was top notch and you make it look like nothing but a profit motif.

If you have some areas about Fest you want addressed, feel free to e-mail me otherwise I'll have to make public my concerns as well. That may make some, very uncomfortable.

Yes, that is correct. One of the few reasons I donated the cars in the first place was so that I could:
A. Help out Mark
B. Actually contribute in a positive way to the Fest
C. Be a part of something I knew I would not be able to attend.
Unfortunately my life as it is now does not allow me the time to go to Fest. I haven't had a vacation since 1997. I have three boys and they come first. Fest is not a huge priority in my life right now.
Would I like to go? YES!
Will I go? YES
Just not now. This was the only way I could contribute, for that I am happy I could.
That's all I have to say about this.
Not my problem. And as I mentioned earlier, if you have a problem with the car or me please feel free to email me off the board to discuss it.
Thanks

Rob and Mod, We'll get hooked up eventually, but this ride called life needs to slow down.
