Hey gang. Hope this is the correct forum.

Does anyone know if a Vintage Juice Machine will power up one of the newer
1996 era Playing Mantis Sizzlers?

Tested the Juice Machine output with a battery tester so a charge IS coming out... but none of the cars are charging. Could these cars 1996 batteries be toast even if they have never received an initial charge?

I am not an expert in this are so please be nice.

I'm no expert either as I just have a vintage HW Sizzler I just look at on the shelf.

However, if they use NiCd batteries in them, they'll be dead if they're from 96. I have a beard trimmer I got in probably 03 or 04 and the batteries were to the point in it that not only would they not hold a charge, but I had to plug the thing in for a few minutes before I could even use it while plugged in. So 96 ones will be even further gone if they are the NiCd type. The good news is that cracking it open and replacing the batteries made it good as new again, so if you could replace the battery in the car it would probably work fine again.

Yes on the Juice Machine question. It will work.

I had a ton of those Sizzlers when they were out.My son who was 4 or 5 at that time, and I,had a blast with them.

There may be a replacement that you can track down on line.I believe those batteries were used in other applications.

Funny tho,it shows you how far battery technology has come since those cars.Rechargable batteries back then were terrible. The batteries we have now are light years beyond those old things.

You can get the batteries off the bay but they can be a bit pricey, However they are great batteries with longer charge/run times and high quality. Most all of the 96 JL sizzlers had the "Short" batteries. When I got back into sizzlers years ago, I tried my local Radio shack and they had some but the amps were lower so they didnt run as long, Hope this helps... :)
