you dont like the kit view port?
Yeah, I've got a thing about the viewport, the PL JII was way too big so I did that one, framed it in with some .040" styrene & made new supports. My 16.5" Lunar Models JII as well.

There were slight differences between the various miniatures & full size JIIs as we all know, but it's an important detail that most kits don't seem to get quite right, although I guess it just comes down to a matter of preference.

It looks like Moebius finally got it right though!

SFM has discontinued the first 24 inch Jupiter 2 they released which was made from ABS. last time I was in contact with them, they said they completly retooled it out of resin. That being said, they have been silent for a couple of years now. The robot factory just posted an update however, SFMs last update was in 2006.

I received my J-2 within 3 weeks of ordering with all the parts back in 2006. I broke a leg well walll during construction and wrote to SFM.....they sent me a complete set of 3 legs, steps, and wells free of charge. I have spares if someone needs a part. I have not finished the model completely as of yet. I'll send a couple of pics tomorrow. Mine will have when completed:

backlit cockpit (fluorescent lighting)
flght panels (using lightsheet)
motorized upper dome spinner
fusion core (Voodoo FX)
lit legwells

I am not a fan of the viewport either, but I am not planning to correct it at this point.

I'm just going to redo it completely, if I didn't it would really bother me!

Here's a picture of my 16.5" before I added the supports, it came out somewhere between the 4' hero & the full sized set versions.

There are some really good close ups of the 4' "pod dropper" JII on the Modeler's Vault site. It's in less than original condition but you can still see the basic design pretty well.
