Our schools don't start until 8/16. It looks like I'll be driving many of your kids to school this year, that is if you live around here. I'm gonna try my hand at driving a bus. I'm gonna go and find out what route I'll have today. I'll be scouting those garage & yard sales, probably making the rounds to the local stores. Watch out scalpers!

and just a note to all you bus drivers,who drive 40 mph on hiways and interstates but 60 mph on neighborhood roads;

If you gotta let kids off and there's 3 cars behind you,don't slam on the brakes and whip that sign out.
Try some courtesy and let the few cars pass, before you make us dive for the emergency brake.

Most importantly,take a drug test from time to time........

If you drive for my district, you WILL be taking a drug test from time to time. All drivers get a DOT physical & drug test. Law also requires random drug/alcohol testing throughout the year.
If a particular school district doesn't have DOT certification, law requires that uncertified buses stay under 50 mph, even on highways & interstates. Law in Texas doesn't require that certification.

At least we are getting a bunch of brand new, air conditioned, diesel engine buses this year.

Now I gotta build me up a diecast schoolbus collection. The nicest diecast one I've seen so far is by Road Champs. It had remarkable detail. It blows away the HWs version. The ones I have so far are the HWs, Partridge Family and Springfield Elementary.

Better yet, I need a slotcar version!

Oh BTW, I unfortunately didn't get a bus that is like any of the ones pictured above.

I didn't even get one with AC. I hate being a rookie. At least I didn't get one of the oldest busses. Mine is diesel and is in pretty good shape. It has a better turning radius than the ones I drove in training. Gotta remember to watch that tail swing though.
