Wow, these are really beautiful; reminds me of the "Super Chromes" from the mid '70's. The Stepside pickup and the Nova wagon look particularly good, something about a flame job over that gleaming finish is irresistible.

That one has always looked more like clear coated zamac to me in photos rather than chromed as it is described. Can you see a difference between the body and the base plate in hand? The base plate is supposed to be bare metal.

The body is definitely shinier than the base, but I'm also inclined to say that it's clear coated zamac and not plated. I feel like chrome plating would better hide the imperfections in the casting.
