Just saw where Mr. Shelby died. Thanks for your contributions to the automotive industry. Got to meet him a couple of times, very nice and cordial. He had a cafe near his shop by the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, if he was there he would go around to the tables and shoot the sh+t with you. RIP

Wow this is a shocker!!!!!! Very sad day indeed... I rememeber a trip Our church youth group took to Denver one sunday Must have been 67 or 68 and we stopped at Castle Rock on the way home to eat at a " Drumstick" resturant. in the parking lot was the Shebly transport truck loaded with race Cobras from an event at CDR that weekend. I didn't go inside the diner i just stayed in the parking lot walking around the car hauler looking at the cars... Little did i know as i was 14 or 15 at the time that this was the team it was.. I had forgotten that until i watched the Speed Channel show on Shebly tonight and saw that truck loaded with cars....

Wow, that is a shock. I got elected to an automotive hall of fame in 2004, and Carroll Shelby was a member of it also. I got to sit and have lunch with him and other members every year, and really looked forward to listening to him swap old memories with his close buddies. I felt priveleged to be there.

Rest in peace.

For a funny story involving Carroll Shelby, hit YouTube for a Bill Cosby bit called "200 MPH." Gave me a good laugh.

As an owner of one of his 67 GT350s, I tip my hat to the man one last time. He had a rare combination of talents that has been much enjoyed and appreciated. The man had a pretty good run for someone who was told he was nearly at the end of it nearly 50 years ago. Thanks, Carroll.

Heard this yesterday while at the racetrack . . . saddened to hear of his passing. He left his mark on the world of cars and racing that is legendary. RIP - I am sure he is putting his foot into a 427 Cobra in the sky right now.
