Located in Hong Kong, the Red Box Toy Factory Ltd company was founded in 1985. They had made a broad range of plastic, soft (plush), and electronic toys for children of all ages.

Around 1995, the Red Box Toy Factory Ltd in Hong Kong began making Zee Toys and Zylmex castings previously made by Zyll Enterprises. Red Box was based in Ontario, California and also provided diecast distribution in America. Two of the assorted series offered were the military themed "Action-Masters" and "Dyna-Trucks Trailer Set". The former included an assortment of HO scale tanks.

In 1997, Red Box changed their name to Motor Max and still using the original Zyll dies and mold toolings continued issuing ex Zyll castings while also adding new models to the new range line up.

Red Box is also credited for having made a series of vehicles for Tonka using old Zee/Zylmex castings with a key chain attached and called them "Mighty Construction Keychain". These included the "Fun 4 All" tag line which is a subsidiary company of Tonka holdings.
