Hey guys, I'm 99% done with this Polar Lights Enterprise-A I building for a client. I thought I'd share some pictures this weekend.

The only thing left to do is to fill in the viewports with clear resin.

I took to multitasking with this one and the TMP version. I worked on them both simultaneously while I continued work on the lighting kit. I thought it would save some time I guess.

I should point out that the light leak beneath the photon launcher is there because I always leave the forward deflector housing unglued so that my client would be able to access the power relay in case anything should happen to the lights. Thankfully, none of my clients had to use it. I would also like to point out that I did not use decals on te deflector housing or the strongback.

Trekmodeler,
You should have taken more pictures.:p

Excellent build up. I like the colors you picked especially on the strong back. I've seen a lot of build ups where the blue on the strongback is to vivid. Yours is grayed down and looks more in place than the brighter blues I've seen used.

Light leak? What light leak? I can't even see it!

Incredible work. I'd swear it was the filming model.

I can't thank you all enough for the kinds words. "I" am not worthy of such kind comments, but thank you all anyway. I appreciate it.

Here are more pics, this time taken in ambient light. It brings out the aztec patterns.

My GOD! that is beautiful.

It brings back the same feeling I had when I saw the Enterprise for the first time at the movies in 1979.

[Sulu] my.... GOD [/Sulu]

I agree with BatBob (except for the 1979 part) When I first clicked on one of the pics in the second batch, I was floored. I have to go chuck my PL refit out the window now. It is not worthy of being associated with yours.

I couldnt agree more. I know its the "A" but images 5854 and 5855 are straight from the scene where the refit aproaches VGER. Beautiful finish. It's a real credit to you!

Thanks lots everyone!

AW Schuks! Thanks everybody. Reading your comments made my face turn all kinds of red lol. You guys are great seriously!

Long stares at studio references, fellow builders past work as well as keeping Star Trek (the movies) DVDs handy is really all that are used to get'em to look that way. All of the paint that goes on, with the exception of the hull plating, are Model Masters. Even though I haven't got a problem with it, I rarely use Tamiya. I always use the same colors for every 1701-A build [US Navy Blue/gray, light gray, and various degrees of flat white provides with the different tones and shades]. The only thing different with each build is the paint mixtures. Last but not least, with all of my personal limits kept in mind, I always intend to make every build an improvement over last.

Now could someone tell me what this is all about? lol It's GREEN. I found it on a thread here a while back and meant to ask. It has to be an illusion.

I do belive and if my addled memory is functioning correctly the 'green scheme' is for the 1701 refit STTMP, the 'blue scheme' for the 1701-A.

At least i thinks that's the right order :)

For TMP, the leading-edge stripes should be a blue-green while the fancy stuff on the strongback should be shades around a pale sage green. This is according to Paul Olsen, and Andrew Probert, based on Mr. Olsen's account, and based a painting on Mr. Probert's site which shows the colours accurately ... according to Mr. Probert.
