Founded by Tony Bellm, a pharmaceutical executive in 1985 as Bellini, their castings were hand built white model models issued in the "Piccolino Series" as 1:76 scale F1 Grand Prix racers, World Land Speed record holders and other historically signifcant vehicles.

Production was originally made by Master Models in the UK. But, transferred to RAE Models, also located in the UK.

More than 120 different vehicles were eventually made with each identified as Piccolino on its base.
