I had heard that the military was taking people from 17-42 now. Tried to enlist in the reserve the monday after my birthday this month, only to find out that it was only up until you are 42, not through 42.

Guess I'm officially over the hill, now that I'm too old to be shot at!

Chuck, check into joining the Louisiana State Guard. They'll take old fellers like us.

I did check. 17 until 42.
"State Guard" not "National Guard." Of course, the confusion resulting from the similarity of nomenclature and uniforms creates favorable impressions among those who aren't familiar with the distinction. :p

I wasn't able to find a website for Louisiana's state guard but if you contact someone at one of your state military offices, you should be able to locate them.
