hey guys,
I am in the middle of a 6' build of the Enterprise, 1701A. I got some sheeting in balsa wood finished on the upper saucer, can you just lay fiberglass and polyester resin directly on the balsa wood, or should you use some type of barrier first. thanks Jeff J

No barrier coat is required for polyester resin on balsa wood. You can (and should) lay the cloth and resin directly on the wood..

You'll be doing yourself a favor it you think about using epoxy resin instead. It has a longer working time and smells a lot better. Of course, it's more expensive.
