What a GREAT piece of film!!!!

Man, that track looks nothing like it does today! And the cars..... they put the STOCK in "stock car". I believe I saw a passenger door opened on one of the wrecked cars. Real honest to goodness "door slammers".

The track WAS in fact designed for 200 MPH, as the winged wonders of 1970 proved

What I find interesting is the pace car is a 60 Buick and the cars I could spot right off are 53 and 55 Fords, 55 and 57 Chevys, 53 Studebaker and a 40s something. The stock cars were recognizable as those seen on the streets and in some cases were pushing 20 years of age. Compare that with today when you see 3-5 different models that all look exactly alike except for the painted on "grilles" and due to the sponsorship decals cannot be distinguished from each other anyway.
