Just saw this on the news. Seems this "family" was on their way to a casino in Eastern, CT. Along the way, they stopped at a rest area and evidently left their 3 year old child behind. Seems no one in the three vehicle convoy was bright enough to notice that someone was missing. Fortunately an alert attendant found the child and alerted authorities until the family returned to get the child.

Not sure if there's any truth to the rumor that the family discovered the child was missing when they went to place their first bet! :jest: (OK, I made that last part up but the rest of it was true!)

It's amazing to me that they gave the child back. Anyone dumb enough to leave a child behind and on their way to the best place in the world to bring a kid, A CASINO!!! is a greater threat to themselves in my opinion!

If you ever have the unfortunate luck to live in a state that is filled with casinos, you would hear stories worse then this one. Not saying this wasn't a "Stupid" act by the parents, as they are ultimately responsible for their own children. I grew up in Nevada, and even worked in a couple of casinos, so I saw a lot of the problems first hand. The worst of the worst, is when parents leave their kids in the car, so they can go into the casino and gamble. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out, that you don't do things like that.

Some casinos used to have "Game Rooms", where you could sign in your kids, while the parents gambled. There is no admission, you just have to give them money for food and to play video games. The one up at Harrah's Lake Tahoe used to be great, they even showed free movies, on a theater screen. So, if the parents felt like gambling, and wanted to take their children with them, there was a safe alternative.

Sorry for the ramble folks, but parent like these, just get under my skin. Your family should the top priority in your lives, not a secondary thought.

If you can lose a child and not notice it,please stop breeding and step out of the gene pool.
I don't care if I had 12 kids that would NEVER happen!

The people in the vehicals assumed the child was i n somelse's vehical. I could see this happening, especially if they are all related. For instance the parents thought the child was with the grand parents and the grand parents thought the child was with the sister in law and so forth. I just think it can happen easily enough. And as long as there were no other visible problems or problems on the record with the families simply giving the kid back is probably the best thing for the child and the family.
