Has anybody heard anything from Reedy lately?Trinty has come out with several motors the past few years. But weres Reedy the mvp came out and then nothing. I would sure like to see a new one. A legal one not a outlaw stock like trintys new motor. Any thoughts?

rumor has it there is a new one in the works... im sure it will be a so called outlaw 4 magnet to... it just seems most are going this way... eventualy when there are only 4 mags available they wont be outlaws anymore.. they will be all there is to run... :freak:
Burbs I agree with you a 100% the 4 magnet is here to stay. Problem is me like so many are not allowed to run a stock motor unless its roar aproved. My track is a little weird acor rules for 19 turn. But we are only allowed to run tie cans. And in stock roar rules apply. Thats kind of hairy isnt it.But I am told alot of tracks do this now.I just ready for another good motor how about you? Some day the binary in stock may be approved if roar changes some rules. But it will take alot of roar members to do this I feel.I think I will renew my memship so I can have a say.And maybe someday the rules will change.
Hey Matt now tell the truth, if the 4 magnet motor was legal at are track would you be running it? No one has been able to get anything out of them in 4 cell stock that races around here. They were allowed at the Big Chilli Race and the top 4 qualifiers and and top 5 in the A main were not running them. Infact I not sure if anybody ended up running them.
Bob I qulfied 4th in 6 cell with one..And yes I belive the green machine and monster are better than the binaray.Thats why I want a new legal motor from reedy it dosent need to be a binary.Just roar legal
It may very well be a good 6 cell motor. All I know is that I have not been able to get one to run as good as the Monster and several racers that I know have not been happy with the Binary either. Now that new screwed com that might be a fast motor. :jest:
up here where i race they are pretty close to the monster... maybe a second or 2 off.. once u get the gearing right they are fast... at our big track they are a little slower... at our two smaller tracks, if u dont run one u are off the pace... it is odd to cause i would think a motor with more rpms would work better on a bigger track.. but it actually seems to be the opposite.....

up here in sedan and oval it seems like more have gone to the 4 magnet... out loacl motor company coulndt keep them in the showcase.... they sold like 100 motors in the first few days it was out... it is all progression... we always find ways to be faster.. look at when the monster came out... people used to say ohh it isnt as fast as my green 3 .... but when we got them figured out u couldnt pry a monster out of the hands of them...
I copied this from the Integy boards:

As a side note, there's still not much out there that's competitive with Epic stock motors (although their mod motors haven't won a major race in over a year) except maybe the Reedy MVP but it requires more work to make fast than most racers want to deal with.
With Reedy retiring next year, it looks like the long-awaited Reedy Cobalt Stock will be even more delayed.

BIG JIM
i saw that to.... i also saw on a few sites that that big jim likes to talk about alot of stuff he knows nothing about.... like with cyrul at the birds.. big jim splattered the whole story on the net... i wouldnt hold my breath.... doesnt associated get there stuff from yokomo anyway????
Yeah me and him got into a pissing contest over there.
He says in one paragraph that its tough to beat an epic stocker in a race. Yet in the next 3 paragraphs does nothing but bash them.
Over on the Talk to ROAR section of hobbytalk, Hank posted part of (or maybe all) of a reply he got from Mike Reedy after Hank asked him about some things... Part of the response was Mike basicly saying he had no plans to retire... He did seem to say he might be cutting back a little on his work load but not getting out completely...

My current opion on high RPM motors is that they really are better suited to condtions where your motor has to operate over a realtively large RPM range. If your on a track where you run pretty much wide open, I beleive a good high peak power low RPM motor can be made to work if you gear it up far enough.

And lastly... I gave up waiting/hopeing for a new Reedy Stocker a long time ago. I figure now if/when it comes out it will be just a nice surprize... if it never comes out oh well...
It was announced at the Snowbirds that Mike Reedy is not quitting. We did get to talk to him & he said that he might possibly cut back a little but he doesn't plan on retiring any time soon.

It seems to me that the High RPM motors when geared down do not heat up as much as the lower RPM motors geared up. I think that is why motors like the Monster and Binary are faster than the GM3 and P2k2. You can get awesome power out of a GM3 and P2k2 but the problem is about 2 min 30 seconds into the race they heat up and fall off. The Monster stays strong throughout the run.
I agree that it seems that higher RPM motors do somehow disapate the heat better, and that can be a significant advantage over the course of a full race... My theroy is that they do this because the wires are more exposed to the air and the increased RPM also circulates the air more around the wires...

Certianly with todays batteries we are pumping way more current into the motors, and the ablity to disapate some of that heat that gets generated is very important.

 Umm.. Burbs... I think you might be a little confused here.

Remember last week at Trackside ?? I believe the front row was binary stocks ( i know this because my car was one and I know whose the other car was)! And I personally have run my fastest runs ever with the binary stock. I absolutely love it. They don't fall off -- I can start the race with 5.0 laps and finish with 5.2's. ; and they have some smoke down our long straights !

Your car has to be REAL free, and yes the gearing is important, but its not as picky as some think.

I have run them now on tracks from 106' to 206' and they are great on both.
The fastest runs made this year here at St-Roch were made with a Binary. You do have to let them rev but they are very fast.

Martin Paradis
 hello
I've gone faster by a lap everywhere with the Binary. In my opinion, if you are not 1 tenth faster with the binary you are not geared right. I start and finish faster with them...
Whoa Burbs!!

Burbs

Settle down!!! Wow!!!

I won't even comment on the West Bend race......................

As for the Binary's......................I have gone 47-laps on monsters and binary's. It is A LOT easier to be fast with the binary, it seems to be more forgiving. Now as for being BALLISTIC, that's the hard part.

Better or worse on a short track..................you and me heads up on a short track.................you on a binary me on a monster motor.......................wanna bet on the outcome?
mayhem hit it right on the head.... minimum of a tenth a lap at the beginning, and more than a tenth at the end of the race. gearing, gearing, gearing!
