N2Deep Raceways Web site

N2Deep Raceways is presenting the 2012 Firecracker Classic! Oval racing returns to the northeast Ohio facility on July 7, 2012, with open practice Friday night, July 6 from 7:00pm until ?. Plenty of hotel options in the vicinity (less than 10 minutes; see Web site for locations/addresses).

Track size is approximately 90'x30'; track surface is closed-loop carpet. We're trying to decide on what use for the "ice" and how big (wide) it should be.

Amenities include: pit tables with electric; on-site hobby shop presented by Austintown Hobbies; AMB lap scoring (AlyCat) (house transponders available).

Nine classes of short track racing action: Rookies (Novice), All-American Stock Cars (VTA on the oval), Limited Late Models (TOUR 17.5 Open Stock Car), Sportsman Trucks (TOUR 17.5), Super Late Models (TOUR 13.5 Open), Dirt Modifieds (Hooter's Tour 17.5 rules), Mini Sprints (Losi Sliders), Wingless Sprints, and Dirt Late Models (Short-Course Late Models)! Doors will open at 2:00pm on Saturday, with racing starting at approximately 4:00pm. See the Web site for rules details.

Event sponsors are currently being worked on.

Entry fee<s>: $15.00 first class; $8.00 additional class<es>. *NOTE*: This price is for special event<s>. Regular weekly race entry fee is $12.00, $8.00, and $5.00 additional (3 or more) classes.

We're also working on getting the hobby shop stocked up for this event and all future events. If you need something at the shop, let us know on the Message Boards at the Web site :) There's a forum specifically FOR off-road and oval hobby shop requests. Austintown Hobbies (330-793-9233) will be presenting the on-site hobby shop.

For the TOUR Limited Late Models (17.5 Open) and Super Late Models (13.5 Open): We're going to allow the McAllister ASA Camaro (p/n #273) or Mustang (p/n #272), or Milwaukee Late Model (p/n #228). We're trying to decide on an incentive for running these bodies (weight break? Or...?).

The All-American Stock Cars will debut at this event as well. This is basically a "Vintage Trans-Am on Oval" class. However, we're allowing a few more tire, wheel, and body choices (see Web site for more details).

Our drivers' stand is wheelchair-accessible, and we use an AMB scoring system. There are house transponders available.

After this event, the plan is to run oval racing every other Saturday.

Hope you have a good turn out for this race. Would be nicer if I don't have to work and can attend!

And just my opinion, NO ICE! I've raced there and the way the corners are designed works well. Just need to have a nice flowing track design and wide enough for the SC Late Models.
Just another thing, after looking at the rules, I think you may want to reconsider the SC Late Model motor rules. Having run both in my SC10, there is no comparison between a 12T and a 3500. May need to either go 12t 550 motor or go any mod motor. 12T are strong, but not strong enough.

The oval hasn't been set up in quite some time. The way the off-road track is designed, the tabletops are pretty much permanent now, so they won't/can't be moved. It's something I'm actually going to look at next week when I go up to really take a look at how we're setting up the oval.

Thanks for the input!
I'm sure the off road obstacles can be moved. As fast as all these cars run, we need to have complete un-obstructed vision of them as they turn sub 4 second laps. So unless they have been screwed down, they can and should be moved. I'm sure there will be a few guys around to help get the oval set up into a nice sized, racy track.
I agree 12 turn 550 motors are strong but fun enough to keep the races close at a local dirt oval track they run short course edms with the brushed 550motor. Is close fun racing and the cars are more manageable

Yes, the "infield" obstacles/jumps can be moved. The three tabletops are along the far back wall, and are permanently installed.

Like I said, I'm going up there this week (Sunday) to really take a look at it and measure it out.
Tell the offload guys to figure it out and make it removable it was never perminant when I raced there. Problem is its gonna be a long bristol and then you have to hope no one hits the jumps on the back.
My understanding is that there are a couple of table tops along the back wall and they are gonna stay. Hate to see the oval lose that much room, but the nice thing about oval guys, we can run on short, long, wide, narrow, anything. So if the infield is only 3 inches wide, we can deal with it.

Anybody wanna get a "roll call" goin'?
I'll be there for EDM, Sportsman Truck and 17.5 Open
I will add my name as a tentative for sportsman truck.
Please note:

The track phone number has changed :) I repeat....the track phone number has changed.
LOL...*awesome*...we're up to to at least two pages now, mostly by me...:)

Thanks for showing some interest in this event and the track!

I would also like to say...please have some patience with me on race day :) This will be my first time *running* an event since about, oh....1990 or so...LOL...and have never used the AMB/computerized scoring system. I'm working on learning it, though...but...racers just aren't showing up for the off-road on Sundays. Again, a "but"...I'm taking the time to go to the track and try and learn this thing :) It's just kinda tough to run the computer when there aren't cars showing up :/

Also...and I have to talk to the track owner about it to make sure...but there may be a "practice fee" on Friday night. It'll be minimal (like about $7.00), but like I said, I'll check to make sure.

Thanks again for being patient with me ;) (Oh - and if anyone has any experience running AlyCat scoring, and I'm having difficulty, please feel free to help out a bit  )

OK, racers...I've been given the go-ahead to run practice nights during the week :) Thinking we'll set the track up Monday, with open oval practice on Tuesday (July 3), Thursday (July 5), and Friday (July 6). Fees for practice will be $7.00 per driver.

Lookin' forward to this one...!
what are the times for the open practice?
Sorry. I *did* forget to post that, didn't I? LOL...

Lookin' at about a 7:00pm til ? practice those three days. I don't get off work until 4:30, I have to get home, change, eat, and then about a 45-min to an hour drive to the track.
