One of the best Ertl kits I have seen, now having said that, the only real problem that I saw was that your saucer registry was applied in the wrong place. I t should have been at least one tier down from where you placed it. Otherwise, great job! If you went the extra mile to apply the aftermarket pieces, you should have lit the model. Just my opinion. Great job.

If you can't remove that decal, without hurting the underlying finish, then I'd leave it as is.I agree,it's the best Ertl Refit done so far. That paint job matches the 8 foot filming model of the Movie Enterprise,I specfficially mean the random plate patterns, all over the ship.well done!!!Guy Schlicter.

Nice build Borz666... good to see ppl still try their skills on the old ERTL Refit.
The thing about your registry you know already so I don’t need to point to it again.... oh wait I just did point to it... :p

You can get replacement decals here: http://www.federationmodels.com/ (decal section)

Hi Borz666, fellow UK enthusiast!

Well, you can try using Microsol on it, but it is most likely to lift the decal and split it. The e-bay UK always have loads of these kits so pick up a replacement set that way if you do not want to go the hastle of ordering decals from US (mind you, they are good).
Excellent effort and thanks for posting it...

by the way, while I am here, below is a link to my PL refit that I am building. Still well away from finishing it, but gives an idea of the darker look I am after. Obviously the starfield and a few other bits currently missing on the model were added using photoshop. No aztec or any paint details on the primary yet, but not a problem from this angle.

Idea of the model is a stripped refit (USS Endeavour as it happens) on its way for decommissioning, with fleet insignia already removed. I love the dirty Wrath of Khan look, particularly on my fuzzy old VHS..somehow feels more gritty than the latest glossy CGI Star Wars style.

after building my 1:350th refit, I found some pearlescent and iridescent paints (d'oh!) makes me wish I had waited to complete it. Anyway, I dug an old amt/ertl one out of storage and decided that I wanted a self-destructed one. its not 100% accurate. but I didnt have any GOOD ref. pics at the time. like right after I finished it... boom they post good pics of the model online.
Anyway, here is mine (just for kicks) I didnt bother fixing much of anything, just opened some windows and gave her a decent coat of paint.

lol I suppose I did. I thought I still had one in storage when I started cutting it down into the self-destructed version. That other one never has turned up.. guess it went to the garbage man. I'm working on the small (1:2500) enterprises right now and I have been painting a mild aztek pattern on the refit. Drives my wife nuts seeing me with a brush in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other. Most of the refit is done.. just have to finish the primary hull. My Galaxy class is coming along nicely though.
