Today we held the 7th Annual Anderson/Hargrave Memorial Race.
For those of you that don't know, Terry Anderson and Tom Hargrave were long-time QSAC racers and supporters. Tom Hargrave is one of the founding members of QSAC.
We lost Terry back in early spring of 2000 after a tough battle against cancer.
We then lost Tom in the spring of 2002 after his own battle with cancer.
While this started back in 2001 as the Anderson Memorial Race, we felt it was important to remember Tom as well; hence the name change in 2003. Both are missed a great deal. They were a big part of the lives of those around MPR as well as the QSAC family.
Today, the sun shone brighter than it has all spring. We welcomed racers from Minnesota as well as Iowa and Ohio. Today was a day of "fun"; something that at times is lost in this hobby we all so love dearly.
We hope that Terry and Tom looked down today and realized this was to honor them and that we miss them a great deal. Roger Newell proudly accepted the 1st place plaque in Sportsman along with Butch Smith in 2nd and Scott Schramske in 3rd. Randy Baker took home the honors in Sprint Car followed by Bob Elliott and Fred Murry in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Half of the money collected today will be donated to the American Cancer Society in the name of Terry Anderson and Tom Hargrave.
Tom; Terry; we miss you dearly; today was in honor of you.
Regards, your friends from MPR and racers around the country that had the pleasure of knowing you.
Thanks,
Joe Brooks
