I haven't been out diecast shopping all year, just online. I went to TRU yesterday to buy some JL showcases and hoping to find something new. I found the white '65 Impala SS convertible I wanted, but was shocked to find the Gold Series Muscle cars marked at $5.99. I wanted the green Boss Mustang, but I'm not going to spend almost double the price to get it. Does anyone know why this particular edition of cars is a higher price? I can't figure it out. They're not any different than the other JL's.

Baffled in TX.

Prices have increased recently, and the Gold Series went up to $5.99 because they do have more detail than most JL's (details on base, etc).

They used to cost $4.99, but because zinc prices went up (metal used to make diecast), the costs have been pushed onto the consumer as well.

They used to be $5 when JL's were $3
Now JL's are $4, so they are $6.

The extra $2 for the extra detail and the little plastic case
