MMJR Oval Racing in MN 2013-2014

First rule is for everyone to have fun! Remember that we are a club that is built only as strong as the support we get from our club members!!

*** All Oval classes at MMR are blinky mode, Any Non adjustable esc, or any adjustable timing esc in sportsman mode. NO TIMING! ***

General Class Rules--- All MMR Oval classes are "Blinky" ESC classes. No ESC timing is allowed. Adjustable ESC's must be run in blinky or sportsman mode. All classes unless noted differently may not be lower than 4mm (chassis and body). Max battery voltage for 1 cell should be no more than 4.22 volts. 2 cell may not exceed 8.44 volts.

Legends--- 17.5 brushless with 1s battery or 27 turn brushed motor with a 3 cell Nimh battery. All esc’s should be 125.00 or less, (Remember that this is a starter class, let’s keep it that way) 17.5's CANNONT be the "next" generation motors. This means no short stack motors,(example D3.5 or the new Tekin high RPM motor or the new Novak high RPM no new high rpm motors etc.) You will be able run any of the "Older style motors" (i.e. ) Novak SS, Ballistic,Thunder Power,Duo 1,2,or3 etc. Max rollout rule of 2.0, which means for example if you have 23 tooth pinion and a 82 tooth spur and a 2.22 diameter tire you would be at 1.96 rollout you would be legal. If you were at 2.05 you would be over the allowable rollout and you would be required to change. Feel free to ask if you need help figuring this. We have also allowed upgrades to the car to make them more durable these will still be allowed.

Stock Stadium Truck----- 17.5 2s lipo or any RTR with FACTORY INSTALLED Electronics. *** If you change anything other than the servo then you will be required to change the motor to 17.5

** NO Aftermarket Oval lowering kits, this also means no Touring car size shocks also. You must meet the 15 mm minimum ride height ( NO LOWER) Any foam Truck tires or any Rubber Truck tires that DO NOT damage the track ! This is very important! Any off-road truck body, no side dams.

Bombers---- Any 4 wheel independent suspension chassis and any rear wheel drive, 3 gear style transmissions, “NO DIRECT DRIVE and NO BELT DRIVE” will be allowed. 17.5 Motor and 2s lipo along with any of the McAllister Street Stock bodies. (NO EDM, No Late model bodies will be allowed). Minimum ride height of 6mm chassis and body.

ORT/Spec Truck------------- As the name describes, the ORT /Protoform truck body only (part number 1227), any pan car style chassis, we have a recommended (but not mandatory) tire package in place for this class (It will consist of the R/F being a black compound and the other 3 tires being a white compound) this is brought about to try and keep the class simple as it is a starter pan car class. You can run the BSR Spec tire package (yellow stripe) (part number 4003 BSRF) that LefthanderRC sells but it is not mandatory just an affordable option. There will be an open battery, and open esc, as long as the esc meets MMR Oval rules of blinky only.

17.5 Motor and 1s lipo. Minimum ride height is 4 mm and minimum weight is 36 oz. Rear spoilers only and maximum of 1” is allowed.

MMJR SK Mods-------- We will be following the SK Mod rules found at http://www.hobbytalk.com/bbs1/attachment.php?attachmentid=144786&d=1323660578 with a couple MMJR exceptions. NO ESC TIMING. In short you will able to use any speedo in NO Timing mode. 17.5 motors but NO next generation motors allowed. This means no short stack motors,(example D3.5 or the new Tekin high RPM motor or the new Novak high RPM no new high rpm motors etc.) You will be able run any of the "Older style motors" (i.e. ) Novak SS, Ballistic,Thunder Power,Duo 1,2,or3 etc., any approved battery and any brand of WGT tires. We will follow all of the other SK rules. Minimum weight is 33 oz.

Max Gear Rollout for the SK Mods is 3.25

13.5 Super Stocks----Any pan car style chassis, any NASCAR style body, 1” max rear spoiler only! No Wings and no cutouts in back of the car (Rear bumper must remain) any 1s lipo with a 13.5 motor can compete in this class. Again the minimum ride height is 4mm; minimum weight is still 36 oz.

All Dirt Oval Classes (EDM, LATEMODEL, And SPRINTER) are 13.5 2s lipo in blinky mode. *** This is subject to change if the cars are “out of control” to fast***

**** All Sprinters will have to remove top wing *****

Flag Pole Cars-- also new this year and will be on our Saturday schedule only. MMR VTA’s rules will apply with addition to allowing “any” rubber touring car tire. And “any” vintage or stock car type body will be allowed. Again no spoiler or wing add on’s will be allowed and the rear of the car must remain intact.

(MMR VTA cars are 17.5 AWD Touring Cars with 1s lipo, and VTA tires and body)

Feel free to ask if you have any questions regarding the rules or anything else about MMJR Oval Racing. This is going to be a GREAT season!

The summer of 2012 has brought great improvements to the MMR Direct facility. New and improved lighting began the transformation followed by the building of an incredibly smooth laser leveled sub-floor. We now have an awesome facility right here in MN only minutes from the Twin Cities.

Just a few weeks until we get the first Big Saturday run on the Platform. Should be some killer racing as the Thursday night track has been off the hook.

Will we go long for some Saturday's? hmmm. what do you want?

Rumor mill says a pack of 13.5 Late Models are coming to take over on Super Saturday Oval Madness......

Last weekend some gear ratio testing on legends was going down. Not sure if any actual ratio change will come of it as mgmt continues to work to keep legends speeds in check.

Rule Change

I have updated the Legend rules in the first post. The change is effective immediately.

"We will be enforcing this year is a max rollout rule of 2.0, which means for example if you have 23 tooth pinion and a 82 tooth spur and a 2.22 diameter tire you would be at 1.96 rollout you would be legal. If you were at 2.05 you would be over the allowable rollout and you would be required to change. If you need help figuring this, please ask."

The basic formula to figure rollout is:

tire diameter * 3.14 * (pinion / spur) = rollout

If you have any questions or need help, feel free to ask. There are also apps available for iPhone and Android phones to make this calculation easy.
