Hello,

I'm usually on the slot board but since I have been collecting for a few decades and frequently scan the other boards, I thought I might share this one with you--

It's matchbox--# 45. The Ford Group-6 . Originally it was a dark red, metallic but 70% of the paint was gone. I stripped it, polished it, and added some other wheels. I really like this body style and was pleased with the results.

Thanks Guys, :)
GT3, just approach it as you would any other polishing project. Start with a heavy rasp to take out any mold or fault lines, then proceed with finer and finer grit sand paper until down to about 600 grit. If you wanted flawless finish, then go down to 1000 grit. Then, I use a couple of different polishes including a jewelers type rouge.

Thank you FE,
I'm sorry, I have no idea when this was released. I suspect it's quite old as it has an old style base and says "Made in England" underneath. I got it some time ago at a yard-type sale.

cheers..

This is indeed nice. I got one of theses cars today. Its missing the front wheels and is chipped up. But the glass is good and the body is in one piece. My intention is to restore the car to race specs. When I got it; it reminded me of photos I'd seen back in the 60's of maybe a BRM, long tailed 910 or some Alfa. In looking through my material I've "Xed" all of these out. Just exactly what is a FORD Group 6? Did it ever exist? Did it race? Are there any photos? What were the colors? Any help would be appreciated.
