Often only called just the Mazda Miata, the MX-5 (In Japanese: マツダMX-5 ミアタ) was designed by Larry Wood after the new real-life 1990 MY Mazda MX-5 Coupe. According to Fandom, this was the first Mazda Hot Wheels made as a casting. It was introduced in 1991, just one year after the real car's debut. There were 26 different versions of this casting released from 1991 to 2003. Many were only found in play sets or as promotional or exclusive offerings.
