More great news. Since the split, many collectors who had issues with some board administrators and their silly boy games are now joining us at what is looking to be the best MC International Gathering of Friends Convention. (I understand some one somewhere, might try to imitate us, the best form of flattery)
Hardy Ristau will be presenting ra Regular Wheels and Pre-productions, Paul Carr will present My life at Matchbox Part 4, Mattel will be presenting and I am working on one more presenter.
I only have 4 tables left and we even had to expand the show to accommodate all. The dinner has been expanded and the auction is shaping up great. I have listed sites below where you can get all your information and not be censored. No games, just collecting and friends.
This article will appear in the next Matchbox USA Issue. I hope it clarifies the childish lies someone has tied unsuccessfully to weave. His absence has been the biggest driver to this event to date. THANK YOU!!
The MC Gathering Of Friends Convention is alive and well!!
As most of you know by now, the Gathering or now Matchbox Collectors (MC) International Gathering of Friends Convention has split from it's former site. It was never canceled as stated but it is alive and better than ever. I made a change of direction. Jim Gallegos will continue this event with the support and cooperation of several sites so that all collectors may participate. This move has already magnified the event and I hope many of you who would not attend due to certain affiliations, will attend now. All proceeds from the event and auction will go to Rachel's Courtyard, a local children's hospital. All donations are encouraged. Email [email protected]
if interested or for information on the event.
My main co-sponsor is stated below in the announcement by Paul Biddle of The Toy Peddler,
I try to not send out more than one monthly newsletter, but I have some exciting, timely news, and an update to share with you. I have had the great pleasure of being asked to co-sponsor a long running, popular diecast event. It is the Matchbox Collectors International Gathering of Friends, to be held July 20-22 2012 In Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. *Jim Gallegos, long time Matchbox collector, promoter, and founder of Route 66 Promotions, will be co-sponsoring the event, along with The Toy Peddler. Although this is not an extremely large event, (250-400 people), it is very friendly, international, informational, and FUN! This event has been taking place for 10 years now. Although Matchbox is the main theme, you will see other brands of diecast represented. The Sunday show is especially interesting. The Mattel Team will be there in person again and will have stunning Code 1 models. Friday starts with a Meet and Greet, Saturday includes Seminars, a Custom Contest, Dinner, Auction and Mattel Presentation of what is to come.
I am currently working with a former Matchbox/Mattel employee and should have some pre-production, prototypes, signed artwork, and even molds to share in a special display we are working on.

As part of this event, there will be a Charity Auction to benefit Rachael's Courtyard a very worthy, children's charity. If you would like to donate, if you are attending or not, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Jim Gallegos at [email protected]
for more information on donating items for the auction.
