I received the Wild Weekend IV Pink VW Bug WL 1/40 yesterday. This
completes my Wild Weekend WL set. I know some will call these cars
"limited production vehicles created for a specific event with White
Lightning like qualities. To me they make a sweet white tire/ white
base set. What I like best about the set is that both the bug and zinger
camaro have white flames on the nose of the vehicle which goes nicely
with both the white tires and the white base. On the zinger camaro
you can see the white base without looking under the car since the base
includes the part of the car over the wheel well which you can see over
the large white rear wheel. I purchased the first five WL's at the Wicked
Weekend and the Bug WL on ebay. While the camaro was super expensive
I think its one of the sweeter cars I own and its worth it to me.

I'm glad I did not go and waste my money on way too expensive limited cars that were basically made for event helpers/workers and not the general public. Plane tickets/hotel/food on top of the prices would have made them even more ridiculously expensive limited cars not even available as advertised.

I agree, it would have been a Wild Weekend of Frustration and Disappointment. But the limited Camaro Zinger sure looks nice, but not in my budget. Sure wish PM would put the PSRs on blister cards. Wonder if they will this year, since they did so much for WW?

Hello Drdealone,
How much money (exactly) did you spend on the whole set of these white tire'd cars? Just curious.

Hello Shane, I was thinking the same thing here regarding the packaging (with the PSR's). However I think the difference might be simply a Playing Mantis (givaway) promotion vs an intended and deliberate, very heavily "hyped" as these WWW white tire'd cars were certainly trumped up as.

Somebody somewhere made big $$$$$ on these (hoping to rope folks in on these limited cars as "rare WL cars"), and that was the whole intent. By all accounts, they did well. Esp with the aftermarket factor such as eBay (the main reason I believe what was behind these in the first place and their very selective distribution).

Just follow the money...

Yep Tommy, Randys insider to selling wild weekend cars at wicked weekend was there selling randys cars, and cheaper in some cases then we could buy them at wild.
if i recall he had camaro for 400$ there.

A very nice set, but Bull that those attending couldn't complete the set unless you were a insider or payed thru your XXX to get one at auction.

just a guess what he paid,

camaro 400 maybe a little less since he bought the other 4 wls available
VW bus 50
vette 70 with case and other cars
malibu's 50 each
add that to Pink BuG approx 225$?

you have a total
400
212.49 plus S & H
70
50
50
50
-------
832.49$ plus S & H on bug not to far off for a 95 TH set
and Camaro could get you a TH Camaro without any problem LOL

i wonder how close i am ?

PSR.....Pink Slip Racer in a blister? Not gonna happen. These cars are given away as racers and meant to be raced. Blisters, rubber tires, white tires etc are not what this is about. The intent is to actually race and beat each car but due to time contraints we decided to run one car to speed things up and just give the others away as they are won. A zip lock baggy perhaps someday, but never a blister.

Hello Matt,
Exactly what I was thinking here.
And I have to admit smart on there part of the folks who ran this WWW "hype-out/sell-out (with some bait switch advertising) as fast as possible" (400.00 bucks for this Zinger Camaro???!!!! ). That folks are this nutty to pay the kind of money they did makes this potentially a risk worth taking as the seller. Trick is to sell quick - take the money and run...to the next opportunity.

I believe over time these folks who paid what they did will have a sudden reality check when they realized that they blew the paycheck (or 3) to get them.

And interesting will be when they try to recoup their money...and can't.

Yes I see what you guys are saying and yes I have been there, done that. I seen a couple cars on ebay and thought I needed now and paid whatever it took to get them.

All "Drdealone" was doing was letting everyone know he completed a set that he is proud of. Why cant you guys just congratulate him on that instead of worrying about how much he spent on it or saying "Oh , I would never spend that much on something like that". Yes they probably will go down in price but he wanted the whole WL set so he did whatever it took to get them also. Just think of how many people are really going to get a chance to have a complete set of these. Only a few. So yes I would be proud of it also. Who cares what he paid for it. He has a WL set that only a few will get.

Congrats on completing your set "Drdealone".

Oh, yes how thoughtless of me.
Congratulations Drdealone (they are nice cars!).
Enjoy your set of limited edition WWW white tire'd/quasi White Lightning like but not really because of exclusive distribution parameters intended soley at baiting desperate collector folks with lots of spending money" type cars. Its a free country. Congrats also to the WWW folks for a brilliant marketing stratgey. I salute...
But seriously though...
My sarcasm/angst is not on Drdealone jdmconversion, but rather the way these "limited" exclusive cars are doled out when infact otherwise advertised. We can easily gloss this one over as a "thats just life" or "life isn't fair" parable (or my personal favorite "buy what you like"), fine with me, seriously - and I accept all that, but not before I call things like I see them.
This was clearly a bait/switch fix along the lines of a HW Amy type shenanigan.
Was Mike Strauss at this WWW thing?

Dumb question time........

Why are these castings going for so much now or is it just the one casting? If the show was a huge success I can see the demand but with what I have heard, there was no casting shortages at the time. If things didn't go the way you wanted, is it possible you place some premiums left over on e-bay to make sure the price sky rockets in turn hopefully bringing attention to your show, your future show and increasing the value of your cars? Hey, it's a thought.

Congrats on your limited edition set.......but I just have to say again, as it really is sad they way they ran the event cars distribution, .........It's just a shame that the actual "true picture" of the event was getting high dollar WLs to friends rather than to collectors attending the event to have dinners and socialize while donating money to a charity. Yes, bait/switch, exactly as Mod says, with a smoke screen.....ummmm..... sorry you people traveled so many miles to attend this charity event BUT some of the cars are not available as advertised. Bring on the LF, the way it should be done!!!!

Many valid points are made here. I feel the ad should not have stated
"Six cool cars and Whitel Lightnings too!" That leads you to believe that
all six WL's will be available which was not the case. Having already
purchased a WWW III Orange Jaded "Staff Car" two years ago for
over $200 I Knew there would be a Staff Car. I love JL's so decided to
go for the set. I paid $772 total. I may have overpaid ,but the Wicked
was my one big convention for year and I spent some big $. I have
no regrets and the set is displayed near my best cars with pride.
