8 HP B&S engine on 4000W generator, everything works as long as the
low oil shutoff is disconnected, even tho the oil is full. I pulled the sender out and cleaned it but it still kills the engine when I plug it back up. Any thoughts,or suggestions? Thanks

The sensor may just be bad and need to be replaced.

low oil shutoff

Thanks 30Tec, Thats' what I was afraid of. A new sensor cost over $50 plus freight so I guess I will just bite the bullet and order one.

These sensor work by either completing the circuit to ground or by opening the circuit to ground. Might suggest :
1. try starting the engine wit the sensor insulated from the engine or
2. try starting the engine with the sensor removed from the feed wire and the
the feed wire grounded to the engine.
It must be one or the other. If you run it without the sensor, be sure to monitor the oil level.
