Yeah.....What Davz said. The grid speaks for itself. In a very stout field of guys, the Executioner was quite awesome. Dave W was fast in 13.5, but had some bad luck. It was a domino effect, and some people caught the end of it.

Dave, the slider is one of the best cars yet. Keep it up buddy.

Congratulations to Leading Edge Drivers at the latest BRL race.

I've not noticed much setup info in this thread. I realize that some racers are very protective of their setups. It would be nice to see some base setups for the different classes and different chassis that LE makes. I don't think anyone needs to post their TQ setup, but more like a starting point for different sized tracks. Something like if I raced at a 100' flat carpet oval, I'd start with this setup.... I think this info might be useful if posted in this forum.

Thanks, Brian Smith

ps. I chose 100' simply because that is a nice round number and not because I want/need a setup for that sized track.

Brian, I am sure that many of the LE guys would be more than willing to help you out. But, you if ask for a basic set-up info on a hypothetical track size, I think that they might be a little puzzled about exactly what info to provide you. So if ya can, I'd start with an actual track configuration, (ie. size, runline, corners, banking, type of surface, traction compound used, etc.) and then ask for the more precise info that you would like to get; ie. front springs, , tire choice, front to back spring and shock, side springs and shocks, caster, camber, ride height, rake, king pins and lube, front wheel and axle spacing, rollout, etc. etc. If this sounds like a a little too much detail, perhaps you might talk to an LE driver at your local track who seems to have a good handle on that track that day and ask him or her what is working well. I have met and know a lot of LE drivers, I am pretty sure that most of them would not mind giving you a few on the spot ideas.

Oldguy, I think you are missing the point of my post. I think everyone has a safe setup that they fall back on. I realize that the safe setup might vary slightly from track to track. However, there are always going to be a similar starting point on a high bite flat oval when running 4300 brushless, whether it be 100' or 170'.

To be more specific, what is a good starting point for a LE Executioner running on a smooth flat carpet oval?

Here goes........

Front:
Short wheelbase, servo centered, front end brace
RF:
Red progressive spring, 2 deg camber, just a little sag, 2 deg caster
LF:
Red Std. Spring, more sag, 2 deg + camber, 0 deg caster

Batteries:
about in the middle, ESC and reciever on the tray

Rear:
Center shock 25w, silver AE spring, mounted high, .063 f-glass tbar, tbar offset to left, centered pod with short hub on right side
LR:
gold or blue side shock spring, 25 or 30 wt, 4" from center of car to outside of tire
RR:
blue side shock spring, 4 1/16 from center of car to outside of tire.

12.0 oz on LR
Proto dodge charger body
3 whites and a black RF tires (BSR)

Should be a good starting point.....
Adjust from there.

So there you go Brian; right from an A-main Leading Edge driver at this past weekend's BRL race in Fort Wayne. I know Dave, I saw how his car ran, and I know how hard he works at race set ups. Dave has owned serveral LE cars, and he is always very competitive in 4300 brushless. But again as he notes: this "Should be a good starting point and you will need to adjust from there...." to make it your car and to get the feel of the car that YOU are looking for. Now, I doubt that all other LE drivers will set their cars up exactly like Dave has, but I also feel pretty confident in saying that none of those same guys would likely tell you that Dave's set up suggestions can not work for you. If you have an LE car now, enjoy it--you have a selected a fine race car. There have been a number of LE cars in my family for some time, and the driver of those cars consistently makes his father, (the "Oldguy") very proud. LE products flat out work !! Best regards Brian, and good racin to ya.

Straight from the old thread from Dave: A good "Starting" point would be.

Tires Grey LF, double black or G6 RF,
rears, 2 G4's, white LR, grey RR. in the rear you can use a combination of whites, greys, G4 and G5's.

I like the AE T plates, start with .063, if you need to free up the rear try . 075. Always measure the T plate as they are different from run to run. I like using the offset T plate location (closest to the Battery).

I run the short wheelbase, I have seen guys run great with the long as well.

Blue side springs with 30w and the blue center with 40-50w #2 piston when using the HPI shock.

I run the HD Monte, alot of guys are going fast with the dodge as well.

The biggest change to any setup is the tires. The sizing and compound is everything. If you have the wrong size or compound on any one corner, it will wreck to entire setup and you can do very little to bring it back.
If you have any questions just Pm or give me a call.

I have a been working on what Rc4less tires seem to be working good for stock so if anybody would like to know that I can help there.

Yok,
I didn't get a chance to thank you before I left for the patience with me when I was passin ya in the main. If I had to lift in the center, my left rear would pick up and the car would do all kinds of funky stuff comin off. Plus I couldn't drive for nothin this weekend! I was hands down the fastest squirrel at the BRL race this weekend. :p

I had alot of fun hangin out with you, Christ, and Dugan this weekend.

And Dave, I think we we were all pretty good boys at Showgirls, but maybe my driving would of been a little better if I would of just went 1 night instead of 2! :drunk: LOL

Brad
ya you missed the A mains
with Hofer making it made it even better
that put both my cars in the A main
the Lightning and the Executioner
so if anyone is up in the air about what car is better ?
