The center mount changes where the shock puts the load on the car. If you move the mount forward, the preasure point is closer to the front, in turn causing more steering.
The effect your feeling Scott is weight transfer from the rear of the car to the front of the car. Basic rule..... the more weight that is in the back to begin with, the more that gets shifted forward when letting off the gas. Since moving the batteries on the lightning is a jump, one thing to do is lower the shock angle in the center. If you draw an imaginary line to mimic the center shock, picture where in out in front of the car it would hit the carpet. The further out it is, the more steering there will be. That point is where the weight is shifted to when letting off the gas. Lower the shock angle and it brings that point back a little closer to the rear of a car which will give you less steering when getting off power.

Okay I understand that. Very good explanation. I'll experiment with that at Bay City this week.

I think I will try lowering the mounting position at the front of the center shock.
Do you suppose I'll lose steering from the center off though? That would make my overall condition worse. I've been able to deal with the slight loose condition when turning in. I'm losing a ton of time pushing from the center off.

I’m not tiring to kiss but or brag or nothing like that , but I want to thank Dave for making these awesome oval cars. This is my 2nd year racing oval, last year I ran the edge, and this was my first oval car. I wasn’t really sure how to make it fast "rookie", but for the last race of the year it was good enough to place 4th in the A @ IRP last year. That was my best finish. I must have learned a thing or two that day. For the start of this year I got a lightning, right away I was fast. I think my worst finish was a B main win. My highlight with that car was making the A @ GB for the BRL race. About a month ago I got an executioner. I built the car Friday night. Saturday I went to a track and ran a full lap+ faster than my personal best. Sunday I went to another track and ran 3 laps faster than my personal best, and after 5 min I was only one tenth off of the fastest qualifying time ever ran there. that day I went on to win my first A main outside my local track, at my local track, well ,I won't say but it's nice to have the car I have. last weekend I qualified 3rd @ reg. 5 roar race, I messed up in the main, but just qualifying behind 2 of the better drivers I’ve seen race RC. Was an honor. No matter what track, with a few minor adjustments these cars are fast. I’ve had a lot of help from other oval racers to get me to where I am now, thanks, The fact that this is only my 2nd year and I’m keeping up with some of the other top drivers, it make this hobby that much better. I’m proud to own and drive a Leading Edge. Thanks for the fast cars
