Last weekend saw the third and final round of the Italian 1/8th on road Championships held in Cassino and still in with a shot of the title was Lamberto Collari, Alessio Mazzeo and Andrea Pirani. Already from Thursday things were going well for the multiple World champion, Collari very very fast with his Novarossi powered Capricorn, going on to take the TQ spot ahead of Alessio Mazzeo with his Max powered Serpent in 2nd with Dario Balestri (Motonica/Novarossi) 3rd and Nicola Marrone (Sepent/Max) in 4th. The final was hard fought but Collari would lead away followed by Balestri, Carmine Raiola and Francesco Tironi. Balestri would have to retire with steering problems and Raiola too had mechanical problems. Collari would win just ahead of his Capricorn team mate Tironi in 2nd with Alberto Picco (Mugen/Picco) 2 laps further back in 3rd.
