Bought the JL Retro release of the Torino Talladega, Friday. Opened it today. I really liked the finish and detail of this release. My disapointment came when I inspected the wheels , the left rear set way to high in the wheel well . I dont have my magnifing setup at home, but near as I can tell something is keeping the axle from setting in the slot in the base on the left side or the slot is not cut in the left side. Now I'll have to drill the rivets and disassemble it to see what needs to be done to correct it . Wish they would have caught this at the factory. Errors may be cool for the HW crowd but not to me, and especialy on a $4 JL.
Sorry for the gripe, I really do like the JL casting of this car.

I hear you, for $4 it shouldn't happen. Maybe it's your bad luck or a production problem they can correct.

Must be a production line snafu , my Retro Talladega was fine when I took it out of the package ..

I have run across some like this but I usually fix them. Who knows maybe someday we'll get lucky and this won't happen :thumbsup:

I ordered the white Oak Brook Patrol Blazer from the JL Collector Club site. It cost a lot more than 4.00 and it had a crooked axle too. That was a bummer. But I'm glad that most of my JLs have correct axles.

Unfortunately a very common occurrence. Some can be pulled down and properly seated into place. Others appear to have problems in the casting where the groove just isn't cut right. It doesn't probably matter too much for carded cars, but there's nothing worse than a Johnny sitting on three wheels in your display case.

I have been lucky in that regard. The only three legged car I have is a Thunderbird. In the display case it does not look noticeable.

Well the problem was the axle was crimped to the base on the right but not on the left. Had to undo the crimp on the right and widen the left slot slightly so the axle would sit in the right place. JB Weld Kwik-ed it back in place.
I guess since I'm used to doing warranty work on 1:1 GM cars this was a piece of cake. Wonder who I sumit the warrant claim to. :tongue:

at four bucks, it should be correct. To me, Quality Control seems to have become an issue lately.

Thats really to bad. The Talladega is a sweet casting too.

Maybe if we all return the opened cars to the place where we bought them they may take notice. Stores take returns for all sorts of other quality issues, why not return diecast that is defective.

I know it could spark a huge rash of low lifes replacing good cars with junk but currently, nobody is held accountable for poor quality. Even if you notice a defect at a store and report it to the manager, it gets put back on the shelf. If they are returned opened, they will be more inclined to return it to RC2 or press them for better quality product.
